In my years of collecting, I have seen many trees in various styles. The one that I think represents the harsh, cruel, and yet beautiful environment of the Sierra Nevada Mountains is the semi-cascade. Trees are pushed down by brutal snow storms in the winter, broken and cracked by the weight of tons of snow and ice. Then they must endure the harsh, dry climate of summer. This tree is my favorite example of the effects of these conditions. By combining the granite stone and this tree, I feel that this represents the Sierra Nevada Mountains at their finest.
